WBA junior middleweight (154 pounds) champion, Yuri Foreman, a 29-year-old Brooklyn resident who is scheduled to to defend his crown on June 5 at the new Yankees' Stadium against Miguel Cotto, will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight at 12:05 p.m.
In doing so, Foreman is following the path of seven-division titlist and promotional stablemate, Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KOs), who appeared on the show before each of his past two fights -- November's 12th-round knockout over Cotto that earned him the WBO welterweight (147 pounds) title, and last month's 12-round unanimous decision over Joshua Clottey.
Foreman (28-0, eight knockouts) was born in Gomel, Belarus, raised in Israel, and is studying to be a rabbi.
Foreman earned a unanimous, 12-round decision over Puerto Rico's Daniel Santos on the Pacquiao-Cotto under card in November to become the first Israeli to win a professional boxing title, and the first orthodox Jew to do so in nearly seven years.
Billed as "The Stadium Slugfest," Foreman-Cotto marks the return of boxing to a Yankees' home stadium for the first time since Sept. 28, 1976, when Muhammed Ali earned a 15-round decision over Ken Norton at the original Yankees' Stadium.
When Foreman steps into the ring against Cotto (34-2, 27 KOs), he will be accomplishing yet another milestone as the first boxing champion to ever do so.
