Juan Manuel Marquez uses ballet in Pacquiao preparation -- Examiner

By Ricardo Lois, Examiner.com

As Juan Manuel Marquez prepares himself for a third showdown against Manny Pacquiao on November 12, he has enlisted the assistance of doctors to move up to the contracted weight of 144 pounds, revealed key components of his battle plan, and today he reveals another special tool for his training.

Grandes Peleas Vol.35Today Marquez informed us that he has already started using ballet to strengthen his legs in preparation for Pacquiao.

"Up to now I have felt very good," said Marquez. "I am stronger, and with greater agility."

Marquez does not expect an easy fight no matter what his training tactics might include.

"It will not be easy to beat Pacquiao," said Marquez. "But I will have a solution and I will command the fight."

As for a planned tune-up fight with David Diaz in July that has fallen apart due to the American-born fighter's financial demands, Marquez feels it can still be salvaged.

"When Diaz knew we were interested in him because of his style and his punch, and that he was ideal, his team pushed up his price," said Marquez. "I think we will come to an agreement."

Arum Says Manny Pacquiao vs Victor Ortiz Now Possible -- Bad Left Hook

By Scott Christ, Bad Left Hook

Following yesterday's formal, public apology from Golden Boy Promotions regarding Manny Pacquiao and past accusations of the Filipino superstar using performance-enhancing drugs, Top Rank chief Bob Arum tells Lem Satterfield that Golden Boy fighters are now back in the discussion to face Pacquiao in the future.

While Pacquiao is already lined up to fight Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12, he'll need opponents in 2012 and options are somewhat limited. This year, Top Rank has had to pick up aged fighters willing to leave Golden Boy for the chance to fight Manny.

Pacman: My Story of Hope, Resilience, and Never-Say-Never DeterminationOne young Golden Boy fighter who has broken through this year in the welterweight division is Victor Ortiz, and Arum mentioned him specifically:

"Well, you know, looking at Manny Pacquiao, Golden Boy has at least one fighter who, down the road, could factor into a fight with Manny Pacquiao, and that's Victor Ortiz. The statement of settlement frees that up and enables that to happen, with all other things being equal."

Pacquiao vs Ortiz would satisfy a lot of complaints about Pacquiao's opponent choices, at least if neither lose a step by then. Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO) shot up to the upper ranks of the welterweight division by beating Andre Berto in April, and at this point is more or less the default No. 2 fighter in the division with Floyd Mayweather Jr inactive. It's the biggest fight that Golden Boy and Top Rank could make together, and it's good to just hear that it's even possible for the future.

Sugar Shame Mosley shocker: He tried to quit on stool in Manny Pacquiao fight -- Examiner

By Michael Marley, Examiner.com

You don’t have to take my word for it on Sugar Shame Mosley and the putrid effort he rendered in his May 7 fight against Pinoy Idol Manny Pacquiao.

Everyone who watched the heavily-hyped up bout and forked over $55 for PPV TV or a pricey seat inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena knows that Mosley began fighting in a safety first, defensive manner as early as the second round of the scheduled 12-round WBO welterweight title bout. Mosley went almost totally into reverse gear after taking a hard Pacman shot in that round and then getting dropped in the third round.

Simply put, Mosley fought like a quitter.

But now, this Saturday night courtesy of Showtime Fight Camp 360 microphones, specifically a lavaliere mike worn by Mosely’s esteemed trainer Naazim Richardson, you’ll learn as will the entire world that either before or after the tenth round, Mosley actually begged his corner to halt the brutal mismatch.

Now the quotes herein are not verbatim but I can report the essence of what happened and what you’ll hear when Fight Camp 360 plays at 8:45 pm, EDT, right before what looks like a crackerjack super middleweight tournament bout between England’s Carl Froch and respected veteran Glen “Road Warrior” Johnson.

I spoke to one Showtime operative Wednesday who has heard Mosley’s words and the quick, sagacious response by The Naaz.

“Shane wanted the fight stopped, he said it in the corner,” this veteran TV man said. “Shane said he had bad blisters on his foot and wanted the bout to end.

“But Richardson wouldn’t hear of it, refusing to comply with his fighter’s request to quit on the stool. Naazim said something like, ‘No, no, you are not cut from that cloth.’ Richardson refused to call the ref or the doctor in to tell them his man had enough.”

I’m wondering what the first reaction of Pacman trainer Coach Freddie Roach, who so badly wanted to “outdo” Floyd Mayweather Jr. and have Manny KO the 39 year old Mosley, might be. You got “cheated” out of the TKO victory, Mr. Roach by Mosley’s wiseman of a trainer.

Showtime officials weren’t gloating about this discovery, a revelation not covered during the live telecast because the Fight Camp 360 mikes pickup weren’t being piped into the broadcast truck.

Producers of the pre and post fight series were saying they had “a bombshell” for their final Mosley-Pacquiao Fight Camp 360 show and they weren’t lying.

Sugar Shame Mosley indicts himself with his own words rolling off his own lips.

It’s more clear than ever now that, if Mosley fights again and I don’t think he should, he will fighting to redeem his previously unblemished reputation.

Maybe one bad fight doesn’t turn a Hall Of Famer into a Hall Of Famer (example, Roberto “No Mas” Duran) but this evidence is pretty damning.

Based on this verbal gem, how long will it before rival HBO goes back to covering its own big fights beyond the final bell like it did years back?

Not long, not long at all.

The Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley bout took place almost a month ago, however there is an intriguing pieces of news that is just coming out now. In this special Fight Camp 360 sneak peek video, towards the end of the bout you can see a battered Mosley sitting in his corner telling trainer Naazim Richardson that the bout has to be stopped, and that he can't move. Richardson gives his charge some encouragement and sends him back out there, but in the corner, Mosley looks absolutely toast. That's no secret to anyone after watching the fight, but it is quite the revelation that Mosley wanted out, and if he had it his way during the contest, the fight would have been stopped early.

This Pacquiao Mosley video has been released as a special early look at the final episode of Fight Camp 360, which is going to air on Showtime this weekend. Undefeated Junior Middleweight and Former Featherweight Challenger on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights

Boxing News World

ESPN’s Friday Night Fights presented by Corona Extra, will originate from Tampa, Fla. June 3 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 when undefeated junior middleweight Yudel Jhonson (10-0, 7 KOs) and former featherweight world title challenger Walter Estrada (38-14-1, 25 KOs) are featured in co-main events. Joe Tessitore and Teddy Atlas will be ringside at the Al La Carte Pavilion describing the action. Studio host Jonathan Coachman will present all the latest boxing news and highlights. The card is presented by Warriors Boxing.

Miami’s Jhonson will meet Colombia’s Jose Miguel “Mochuelito” Torres (21-4, 19 KOs). Jhonson is coming off a career-best win- a seventh-round March TKO over veteran Richard Guiterrez on ESPN’s Friday Night Fight’s. After the fight, ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael wrote, “Jhonson was clearly winning the fight when he picked up his offense in the seventh, landing a right hook that wobbled Gutierrez before rocking his head back with a right-left combination. Although Gutierrez was in trouble (but was throwing a punch back), referee Russell Mora surprisingly jumped in to stop it at 1 minute, 9 seconds.”

“We know Torres is a tough guy who took Mean Joe Greene the distance,” Manager Luis DeCubas Jr. said. “He’s fought a couple of other worthy guys, and he can’t be taken lightly. He’s a big puncher, but I think his style is made to order for Yudel, who is a counterpuncher who likes guys to come to him.”

Colombia’s Estrada looking to rebound after a March 10-round unanimous decision loss against 2004 U.S. Olympian Vicente Escobedo, will meet Gainesville, Georgia’s Tyrese “Head Honcho” Hendrix (20-2-1, 9 KOs). Estrada took the fight on short notice after originally scheduled Prenice Brewer was injured. Prior to his last fight, Estrada won three upsets in a row, including a November eight round decision over former WBA-IBF-WBO lightweight world titlist Nate Cambell.

After the Cambell fight Rafael wrote, “At 38, it appears to be over for Campbell, the former unified lightweight titleholder who has fought numerous top opponents. He won some and he lost some, but he usually made good fights. This fight was supposed to be quick and easy work for Campbell. Instead, Estrada won his third fight in a row (following a 1-8-1 stretch) outhustled and outpunched Campbell for the victory.”
