New Delhi Chronicle

Manny Pacquiao, The lord of the ring. Manny Pacquiao is in final stages of preparations for his Nov. 13 super welterweight bout over the Mexican fighter Antonio Margarito. The Filipino fighter is now training in the U.S. under his mentor Freddie Roach after four weeks tough workouts in Baguio and Manila.

Yet, as the fight is nearing, Freddie is not fully satisfied with his ward’s fitness. In the U.S., Pacquiao was on go for a few days seeking support for a few Democratic candidates in the midterm elections 2010. This is what worries Freddie and fans of the Filipino fighter.

Pacquiao campaigned for Harry Reid, top Democratic senator in Las Vegas and Nevada, two areas where majority of Filipinos and Asians settled in the United States. Of course, Pacquiao’s efforts to persuade Filipinos and Asians to vote Democratic candidate have succeeded to an extent.

Reid defeated his Tea Party favorite GOP candidate Sharron Angle by 40,000 votes. Exit polls said that three-fourths Asians living in the areas voted for Reid. Pacquiao also worked for governor candidate Brown against Meg Whitman. “I helped him campaign. I gave a message to the Filipino community to support Gov. Brown, and they did,” the fighter also known Pacman said.

Will these extra-activities tumble Pacquiao’s chances in the Nov.13 bout at the Cow Boy Stadium? The fighter says a big no! Pacquiao says he is much confident to win the bout over Margarito regardless of the Mexican’s celebrated size advantage. The Filipino believes that he will be benefited from his featured talent for speed movements in the ring.
