In a nationally Foxtel televised promotion Fijian based Joseph Kwadio (13-1, 9 KOs), formerly of Ghana, stopped Jamie Pittman (19-2, 8 KOs) in seven rounds at the La Montage Reception Center in Sydney, NSW, Australia on Thursday. Southpaw Pittman controlled all the rounds as he scored with power shots to the head and body of Kwadjo.
In round four Pittman suffered a cut on his left eye due to accidental head clash. In round six both boxers were cautioned for infringements. Kwadjo dropped Pittman three times with head shots in round seven and at 2.59 referee John Gauchi crowned Kwadjo the IBF Australasian super middleweight champion.
Pittman’s only previous loss came in a WBA 160 pound title bout against Felix Sturm when he was turned back in seven rounds in 2008.
IBF #6 126 pounder Billy Dib (26-1, 14 KOs) was impressive in stopping Filipino Reynaldo Belandres (13-2, 8 KOs) in six rounds. Dib deposited the import on the canvas for full count at 1.40. Dib’s only loss came at the hands of Steven Luevano in a WBO 126 pound title bout via decision in 2008, but scored his best win in Madison Square Garden, New York when he easily outscored world rated Rogers Mtgwa in 2007.
Australian super middleweight champion Michael Bolling (12-0, 10 KOs) scored the best win of his career when he chopped down Australian based Russian KO artist Victor Oganov (30-4, 28 KOs) in eight rounds. Time: 2.05. Bolling looks like a star of the future in Australian boxing. WBA/WBC super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan was in Oganov’s corner.Australian based 140-pounder Ranee Ganoy (30-11-2, 26 KOs) knocked out Thailands Decha Bankluagym (30-11-3, 16 KOs) in round two from a perfectly delivered left hook to the jaw. Ganoy is trained by Graham Shaw at the Grange gym. Bankluagym is a former IBF Youth champion and also lost to current IBO 147 pound champion Lovemore Ndou in a previous trip to Australia.
In a cruiserweight war Anthony McCracken (12-4, 4 KOs) and Dominic Vea (12-1, 10 KOs) knocked chips off each other for eight rounds and at the conclusion McCracken was awarded a split decision. Vea is scheduled to challenge for the commonwealth title on July 1st in Australia.
Hot middleweight prospect Steve Casserley (5-0, 2 KOs) dropped New Zealand’s David Wiremu (14-22-3, 6 KOs) with a solid right hand to the head in the last stanza of a four round bout to win a clear decision.
