LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather, already facing criminal charges that could put him behind bars for 34 years, is in trouble again after a confrontation involving a security guard.
Police said Tuesday that the guard claimed Mayweather poked him in the face several times and threatened him over parking violations outside Mayweather's home, part of an ongoing dispute with Mayweather and a homeowners association.
Mayweather refused to speak with police who were called to his home after Monday night's incident, which ended with police making a misdemeanour battery report to the district attorney's office for possible prosecution.
Mayweather, 33, faces charges of felony robbery, coercion and grand larceny as well as misdemeanour domestic battery and harassment charges in connection with a September 9 dispute involving a former girlfriend who is the mother of his two sons. He faces an arraignment in that case on January 24.
While Mayweather, 41-0 with 25 career knockouts, was once regarded as the world's top pound-for-pound fighter, his inability to make a deal for a megafight with Filipino star Manny Pacquiao, the Asian star's 13-fight win streak and legal woes have dimmed the US boxer's star in recent years.
