DAVID Haye will face another giant-sized challenge if he beats John Ruiz on Saturday.
The WBA heavyweight champ is being lined up for yet another tussle with 7ft 2in ‘Beast from the East’ Nikolai Valuev.
He defeated Valuev to claim the belt last November and the fight contract contained a rematch clause.
A member of 23st Valuev’s camp said last night: “We are hoping for a rematch in late summer – that’s what we want.”
But such a fight would mean putting Haye’s plans for a meeting with one of the Klitschko brothers in a unification fight on ice.
“I am not sure how realistic that is. I am not looking too far into the future.
“I am just focusing on making sure Ruiz is dispatched in good style. That is the only thing that matters at the moment.
“Once he is out of the way I will sit back, look at the heavyweight landscape and see who fits where and try to make it happen.”
IBF and WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko admitted Haye’s complicated deal is delaying a big-money battle against him or brother Vitali, the WBC title-holder.
He said: “I hope Haye has a quick fight after Ruiz and gets free of options.
“Then it might be possible to get together in December.
“The fight against Haye could be anywhere. We have football stadiums with roofs in Germany or even the O2 Arena in London.”
