Jerry Jones, Jimmy Johnson to watch Pacquiao-Clottey bout together -- Dallas Morning News

By David Moore, Dallas Morning News

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson weren't on the best of terms after their split that rocked the Cowboys foundation to its core. But the two have repaired the friendship through the years and will watch Saturday's fight together.

"I've invited all of the former Dallas Cowboys, and many of them were here when we announced the fight, as well as everybody who is on the team,'' Jones said.

"There is no question that long before this fight in Cowboys Stadium, we have had such a fighting interest on our team. We have had inordinate fight fans in Jimmy Johnson, who will be here with me, and Bill Parcells, who won't be able to make it."

More fights on the way to Cowboys Stadium

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and promoter Bob Arum have not had specific conversations about bringing another fight to Cowboys Stadium.

But it's clear that this Saturday's event between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey won't be the last.

"I have every incentive in the world to want to be involved with our stadium with the future of boxing,'' Jones said. "It makes a lot of logistic sense. There is a great synergry with a lot of our fan base.

"It's no accident that so many football players will be at this fight. There is a common interest. Both are very physical sports.''

Arum said, "It's our intention to bring a lot of big boxing matches here to Cowboys Stadium."

Bob Arum calls Jerry Jones best promoter of all time

Bob Arum is known for his skills as a promoter.

He's found a kindred spirit in Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The first clue came when Arum was asked about Jones' party pass concept at the huge stadium.

"He's the best promoter I've ever run into,'' Arum said. "Best, best, all-time best. Party passes. What a genius.''

Arum first met Jones 20 years ago when he accompanied then-coach Jimmy Johnson to a fight in Las Vegas. The two recently went on a two-day promotional tour in Mexico for this fight.

"He never gets tired,'' Arum said. "We were on a two-day trip, and he was able to drink everybody under the table. He kept going and never stopped with dozens and dozens of interviews. It was really something to see.

"He has been one of the great partners that I have ever, ever worked with."
