Bombastic Arum rips media, Mayweather in Beverly Hills Cop(out) -- Examiner

Manny Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum took to the rostrum in Beverly Hills to rip into both Floyd Mayweather and elements of the boxing media.

In praising Pacman and introducing him in public for the first time at a boxing event as the Congressman from Sarangani, Arum drew a contrast between the respective lifestyles of the two ring superstars.

"He's Mr. Excitement and, for every fight, he gives a great performance.

"It's not about how much money I have or how much money I can throw away in the nighclubs...but it's a humble guy who gives back to the people," Arum said.

In a bravura performance, Arum continued to maintain Margarito's lack of guilt in the Mosley fight handwrapping scandal.

Arum then mentioned his Harvard Law education and his long ago post in the Justice Department under President John Kennedy and Attorney General Robert Kennedy.

"One thing I can't tolerate is injustice," Arum said. "Not in this country. He (Margarito) has gone through this long ordeal.

"But Antonio Margarito did not know (about the illegal inserts). There's not one shred of proof that he knew...But the writers, some of them...

"Look, there is still justice in this country. I don't care what minority you're from you are entitled to that."
For his part, Pacquiao dodged any reference to his foe's legal woes.

"I'm just a fighter doing my job," Pacquiao said.
